About Total War: WARHAMMER III - Sayl – Tides of Torment
The Sayl The Faithless DLC pack introduces the treacherous sorcerer as a playable Legendary Lord for Immortal Empires and Custom Battles. With a focus on high-handed manipulations, Sayl leads his faction of The Dolgans from the new four-region province of Mountain’s End.
The most self-serving of seers, Sayl’s rise to power was both measured and ruthless. For his modus operandi is this: lie and betray.
Sayl achieved his ascendancy by manipulating his Dolgan Tribe into enacting a Daemonic ritual. In the final moment, Sayl sabotaged the ritual, and his fellow sorcerers were fused into a single, horrifying entity: the three-faced Chaos Spawn known as Nightmaw. The mindless beast is never far from Sayl, and he frequently dispatches it to terrorise his more immediate foes.
This was the making of Sayl. His power lies not in the mindless, full-frontal attacks favoured by his tribal peers, but in cunning, deception and ultimate betrayal.
Unique mechanic: Manipulations
Sayl is a master schemer, using an array of Manipulations to weaken his enemies by disrupting the logistics of their armies, throwing their settlements in disarray and even directly whispering lies that warp and sever their diplomatic ties with friends and neighbours. Even his own forces are subject to the machinations of the Twisted Seer of the Waste in their march to victory and doom. Growing in power unlocks additional Manipulations, ever more potent and treacherous but relying on them is equally as treacherous. Too many Manipulations in a short time span will inevitably attract dark, malevolent attention that Sayl needs to navigate around or else he will suffer for his transgressions.
Unique Mechanic: Dark Ritual
Ever-thirsty to magnify his sorcerous strength, Sayl strives to enact a great ritual. To do this, he must construct Chaos Altars, allowing him to channel great arcane power. Through enacting rituals, he will face many battles, events and dilemmas in his quest for supreme power, including his greatest challenge, if he is to claim the ultimate prize.
