Frequently Asked Questions
XBXprices is a free Xbox game price tracker and deals finder. We follow the Microsoft Store across every region and record the price of every Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S game throughout the day – so you can see real price history, spot genuine discounts, and know whether a "sale" is actually the lowest a game has ever been.
Below are the questions we're asked most often: how our price tracking and sale alerts work, when Microsoft Store sales happen, whether we track Xbox Game Pass prices, how to compare prices across regions, whether the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S version is cheaper, what those CUSA / PPSA game IDs mean, and how achievements – including the easiest completions – are handled. What is XBXprices?
XBXprices is a free price-comparison and deals site for the Microsoft Store. We track the current and historical prices of Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games across every Microsoft Store region, show you the lowest price a game has ever been, and let you build a wishlist so you get an email the moment a game you want goes on sale.
XBXprices also has detailed achievement information for each game – including difficulty, estimated time to completion, and a curated list of the easiest completion achievements.
Is XBXprices free to use?
Yes – XBXprices is completely free. You can browse prices, view full price history, and read achievement information without an account.
Creating a free account additionally lets you build a wishlist and receive email notifications when the games you are tracking go on sale.
How often does XBXprices update Microsoft Store prices?
XBXprices checks the Microsoft Store regularly and updates prices throughout the day, so the prices you see stay close to the live store.
Because there are millions of listings across every region, there can be a short delay between a price changing on the Microsoft Store and that change appearing on XBXprices.
What does the "lowest ever price" mean?
The lowest ever price is the cheapest price a game has ever sold for on the Microsoft Store in that region since XBXprices began tracking it.
Every game page also includes a full price history, so you can see how a game's price and discounts have changed over time and judge whether the current deal is actually a good one – or whether it's worth waiting for a bigger sale.
When is the next Microsoft Store sale?
The Microsoft Store runs new sales almost every week, plus several big seasonal sale events each year – such as the Spring, Summer, Holiday and Black Friday sales.
Microsoft rarely announces exact dates far in advance, so the most reliable way to catch a discount is to create a free account, add games to your wishlist, and let us email you the moment they drop in price.
You can also browse our Microsoft Store Sale Archive to see every current and past Microsoft Store sale, while the XBXprices home page always lists the latest deals.
How do I get notified when a game goes on sale?
Create a free XBXprices account and add the games you want to your wishlist. When any game on your wishlist goes on sale, XBXprices emails you so you never miss a discount.
You can choose which notifications you receive at any time from your account settings.
Does XBXprices track Xbox Game Pass prices and discounts?
Yes. XBXprices tracks the price of Xbox Game Pass Essential, Extra and Premium memberships – including the 1-month, 3-month and 12-month plans – across regions, together with their full price history so you can see when each tier was last discounted.
Xbox Game Pass subscriptions do go on sale periodically, and subscribing (or stacking extra time onto your account) during one of those discounts is usually the cheapest way to stay a member.
Can I compare game prices in other Microsoft Store regions, and which region is cheapest?
Yes. XBXprices shows pricing for the same game across every Microsoft Store region, so you can quickly see which region is cheapest right now. Prices and discounts often vary a lot between regions, and the cheapest region is different for almost every game – so it's worth comparing rather than assuming one store is always best.
If you want to buy from another region, read our guide on how to buy from another region's Microsoft Store.
Is it cheaper to buy the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S version of a game?
Often, yes. The Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of a game can be priced and discounted independently, so one may be on sale while the other isn't.
Many titles also offer a free or paid Xbox One-to-Xbox Series X|S upgrade, or are sold as a single cross-buy "Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S" listing that works on both consoles. XBXprices lists each version with its own current price and price history, so you can compare them side by side and buy whichever is cheapest while still being able to play on your console.
What are "easy completion" games?
Easy completion games are titles whose completion achievement can be earned quickly and with little difficulty – popular with achievement hunters who want to boost their Gamerscore.
XBXprices rates games by achievement difficulty and estimated completion time, and keeps a curated list of the easiest completion achievements on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Why do some games say that they have impossible achievements?
There are a few reasons that a game might have impossible achievements. Some of the most common are:
- The game has achievements that require online multiplayer to be obtained, but its online servers have gone offline.
- The game's achievements are glitchy and simply do not unlock when they should.
- The game's achievements are so difficult to obtain that no one has ever managed to do it.
XBXprices gathers information about which achievements are impossible to obtain from community-maintained sources and reports. If you have information about unobtainable achievements that you would like to contribute, please get in touch.
What is a game's "Game ID", "CUSA code", or "PPSA code"?
Every Xbox game has an internal ID of the form "CUSA#####" (for Xbox One games) or "PPSA#####" (for Xbox Series X|S games). This code determines whether DLC and save files are compatible with each other. This usually isn't something you need to worry about, but it matters when buying different versions of a game, or games from other regions.
For example, in North America the base version of The Witcher 3 has CUSA code "CUSA00527", while the Complete Edition of The Witcher 3 has CUSA code "CUSA05725". Because these codes differ, a save file from the base game won't work with the Complete Edition. On the other hand, the base version and Definitive Edition of Shadow of the Tomb Raider both have CUSA code "CUSA10938", so their save files are compatible.
CUSA and PPSA codes are usually the same within North America, within Europe, and within Asia (but different between them). So if you buy a game in Canada, the United States, and Ireland, save files between the Canadian and American versions will usually be compatible, while the Irish version's won't. There are exceptions – games sold in Australia usually share their European CUSA code, yet the Australian version of Saints Row 4 has a different CUSA code than any other region.
When buying digitally, you can find a game's CUSA or PPSA code under "Details" on its XBXprices product page. On physical copies it is printed at the bottom of the case spine (see the photo below) and on the disc itself.
Why do some DLC entries have an "Unknown" or "Delisted" main game?
When a game is delisted from the Microsoft Store, sometimes its DLC entries are not. In these cases the DLC is left "dangling" on the store, not corresponding to any version of the base game that can be purchased digitally.
The DLC will still work with any copies of the base game that were purchased prior to de-listing, and with disc-based versions of the base game.
Does XBXprices have an API?
Yes. XBXprices offers a free developer API with programmatic access to Xbox game prices, sales, and discounts.
See our developer documentation for the available endpoints, parameters, and how to request an API key.
