The row that surprises people is the second one: Xbox One compatibility on Series consoles is complete, not a curated list. Anything you bought on Xbox One works.
For 360 and original Xbox, support is per-title. Microsoft ended the programme, so the catalogue of supported classics is fixed at whatever it currently contains. Licensing is the usual reason a title is missing — expired music or film rights are difficult to renew for an old game.
Discs and Digital
Digital purchases carry forward automatically. Anything on your account simply appears in your library on the new console, at no cost. This is the single strongest argument for staying within the Xbox ecosystem.
Discs need a disc drive. A supported 360 or Xbox One disc works in an Xbox One or Series X — the console verifies the disc and downloads the playable version.
