Buy the Disc, Keep the Download
These are the tracked Xbox games whose disc is confirmed to convert under Microsoft's Disc-to-Digital programme — you buy the physical copy, register it, and end up with the licence on your account. It changes what a disc is worth: the cheap second-hand copy becomes a download, and on a Series X you stop swapping cases.
Every verdict here comes from the community tracker that records which pressings actually went through, and only a confirmed yes is listed. Discs nobody has verified, and discs the programme refused, are deliberately left out — a maybe is not worth the price of a disc. Prices are the same ones on all physical games.
Gift cards sell at face value, so there is nothing to compare — these are the denominations on sale, which is the missing step when the cheap price is on another region's store.
- What is Xbox Disc-to-Digital?
- It is a Microsoft programme that turns an eligible disc into a digital licence on your account: you buy the physical copy, register it, and keep the download. Not every disc qualifies, and for some games it depends on the exact pressing, so this page lists only the ones somebody has confirmed actually went through.
- Is an Xbox game cheaper on disc or on the Microsoft Store?
- It depends on the game and the week. Digital prices move on Microsoft's sale calendar; disc prices move whenever a shop wants the shelf space, so the two are unrelated and either can be ahead. This page puts both numbers side by side so you do not have to guess.
- Where do these disc prices come from?
- They are collected from Amazon by our own price worker and stored here. Nothing on this page asks Amazon anything while you read it, so every price carries the date we last saw it. If a price is more than a week old it is labelled as such rather than presented as today's.
- Do discs hold their value?
- A disc can be resold or lent, which a download cannot, and that is worth something the sticker price does not show. It also has to be swapped to play a different game, needs the case to be looked after, and can go out of print, at which point the price climbs. An all-digital Series S cannot read one at all.
- Why do I only see a few games?
- Disc coverage grows one harvest pass at a time and only for the countries whose Amazon store we hold an affiliate account for. A game with no row here has not been matched yet; it is not a claim that no disc exists.
